Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is covered in the CBA Learning Module Series? The CBA Learning Module Series is based on the Task List, 3rd ed, published by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. This list outlines the skills needed to pass the exam. It can be downloaded at the BACB site--www.bacb.com. Is there any research to support that the CBA Learning Module Series actually improves exam scores?Yes. In the Summer of 2004, we surveyed people who used the CBA Learning Module Series v4. We found a 95% pass rate for that those who completed 90% of the modules to 100%. Compare this to a 71% pass rate (source: www.BACB.com; combined BCBA/BCABA results) for the entire group who took the exam in the Spring of 2004. However, this is a conservative comparison due to the fact that the 71% also included individuals who used the CBA Learning Module Series. If those individuals’ data could have been removed, the overall pass rate would have been lower. Approximately 35-40% of the people who take the exam, use the CBA Learning Module Series. Is the CBA Learning Module Series a practice test? No. Practice tests are designed primarily to evaluate. The Series is designed to teach. You actually learn new material. The Series is based on a precision teaching model—a well researched behavioral methodology. The focus is on a low error rate and developing fluid responding (accurate and fast). It is similar to an electronic version of flashcards, but with many advantages (e.g., hints, immediate feedback, timed exercises, review of missed items, automatic score calculation, progress log, etc.). Won’t I just be learning the answers to the questions and not learn the concepts? No. A variety of strategies are used to teach concepts. Some of these strategies are randomizing questions, randomizing the position of the options, making incorrect options almost correct, sampling the universe of dimensions that define a concept, etc. Does the Series provide references to other materials?Yes. Hints that accompany each item provide relevant references in popular behavior analysis texts. Many of the references are in the Cooper, Heron, and Heward (1987) text, Applied Behavior Analysis. Who wrote CBA Learning Module Series? The entire content developed to date has been written by Dr. Stephen Eversole, BCBA. He holds a doctorate in special education and is a Certified Behavior Analyst with over 25 years experience. A variety of Behavior Analysts edited various sections, many of whom were experts in the areas they edited. Do you provide site licenses or discounts for entire classes?Yes.
