For over 100 years, the science of learning and behavior has established effective techniques for teaching new skills to individuals with disabilities.  When a child demonstrates a problem behavior that interferes with learning new skills and socially significant behaviors, families can request behavior services for their child under federal education regulations.  A common misunderstanding is that Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is not an option for school settings.  However, education legislation DOES recommend ABA as an assessment and treatment practice for children demonstrating mild, moderate and severe problem behaviors.

This webinar discussion will focus on understanding federal and state education regulations and how to use this information to help families request behavior services for their child.  We will review state-wide educational data and trends and the process of collaborating with education administrators to secure contracts in order to provide both behavior services for children and help the schools meet the mandates established by regulations.

Learning Objectives:

1) Review components of medical necessity and educational necessity

2) Provide access to state-wide educational data

3) Knowledge of federal educational regulations
