This one hour training for BCBA’s will present a process for conducting a behavioral interview with parents when identifying problem behavior and its function is a relevant activity. It will initially present a rationale for why an interview process focusing on identifying establishing operations (EO) that are prevalent in the home environment is the first order of clinical activity.

This LIVE webinar will be held on March 19, 2020 at 2 PM to 3 PM ET.

Behavioral Interviewing with Parents: The “Hunt for EOs!

The training will delineate the process for using the Cipani EO Home Behavioral Interview Form (free copy for attendees) to inquire about antecedent conditions (motivative in nature) that prevail in the home which evoke problem behaviors. From this information one can then subsequently determine the operant response class for a specific EO.

It is imperative that each attendee has previously taken my prior BDS webinar as a prerequisite for enrolling in this training (as the 13 operant categories of functions will not be covered, but assumed to be understood) or have read chapters 1 and 3 of my textbook (Cipani, 2018). I (E.C.) am asking that you adhere to such a request. If you have railed against personnel who have been taught to “filling out an FBA form” without having the conceptual basis necessary for using it correctly, I think you can have understanding and empathy for my position on this. If you have not enrolled in the three hour training, it can be taken in archived form (contact joel@behaviordevelopmentsolutions.com for details).

Objectives:

  1. Attendee will be able to present interview questions that involve examining the presence of motivative conditions for the four major operant functions (Cipani, 2018)
  2. Attendee will be able to link the parent-report data with EO tests (i.e., trigger analysis) detailed in my diagnostic manual (free pdf for attendees) to determine validity of hypothesized functions from interview information
